Nehru Statue Demolition in Durgapur: Congress Gives 24-Hour
A statue of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru was uprooted and dumped in a jungle in Durgapur's A Zone Harshavardhan area. The Congress Party has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to restore and reinstall the statue or face larger protests across the district. This incident has sparked political controversy and raised questions about public property and political activism. How do you think the authorities should handle such incidents involving public statues of historical figures?
I've seen this kind of thing happen before. There is a lot of anger and frustration in our society right now. It's not going to stop with one or two statues. People need a proper outlet to vent their anger. What do you all think would be the best way to do it?
The police station should be able to handle this situation. They've been given a petition and an ultimatum. Let them do their job. Whether they believe in the statue or the cause isn't really the point, is it? It's their job now. At least they can do something and restore it.
This is a matter of respect. Whether we agree with what Nehru did or not is not the point. He was a widely respected leader, and his statue deserves to be treated with dignity.
These incidents are becoming frequent. Let the law handle it. The police station should act and do the right thing, not because of protests but because it is the right thing to do. At what point is everyone just going to stop and let the law do its job?
