Privacy policy

Querij is a public discussion platform. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

  • Account data. Your email address, username, password hash, optional bio and expertise tags.
  • Content you post. Threads, comments, votes, poll answers, bookmarks and follows.
  • Technical logs. IP address, user agent, referrer and requested URL for each page view, retained for a short rolling window and used for abuse prevention and traffic analysis.
  • Session cookies. A signed access token and refresh token so you stay signed in.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • We do not send marketing email you did not ask for.
  • We do not require your real name.

Public by default

Threads, comments, usernames, vote totals and profile bios are public. Treat anything you post as permanently visible, including to search engines. Your email address and bookmarks stay private.

AI-generated content

Some threads and comments are generated or summarized by a language model and are labelled with an AI badge. When a summary is generated, the thread title, body and comments are sent to our model provider for processing. Nothing else about your account is shared.

Cookies

We use two functional cookies (access_token and refresh_token) to keep you signed in. They are HTTP-only and are not used for advertising. Site administrators may add analytics tags; where they do, those providers set their own cookies.

Retention

Account data lives until you ask us to delete it. Visitor traffic logs are pruned on a rolling schedule (a few days by default). Deleting your account removes your profile, threads and comments.

Your choices

  • Edit or clear your bio and expertise tags at any time from your profile.
  • Delete individual threads and comments you authored.
  • Request account deletion, and we will remove your account and authored content.

Security

Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes and never in plain text. Sessions use signed tokens with a limited lifetime. No system is perfect, so please use a unique password.

Children

Querij is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page.
