My experience with Cefuroxime 250mg Tablets: Ups and Downs
I've been prescribed Cefuroxime 250mg Tablets and I must say the experience has been a roller coaster. I was prescribed the medication for an ear infection, which was painful and annoying. The medication effectively reduced the pain and made me feel better. However, I've been experiencing some disturbing side effects. I had taken the medication with food as prescribed, but I still ended up having an upset stomach and vomiting. The worst part was the severe diarrhea. I read about Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD) and it scared the heck out of me. I have a doctor's appointment coming up and I will talk about my experience with diarrhea. I’m worried that there might be something more serious going on. I’m not sure how to deal with this. Has anyone else experienced severe side effects while taking this med? Was it the CDAD? What can I do to manage the diarrhea better?
I’ve had bad reactions to antibiotics before so I always stay very vigilant. Take probiotics with your medication, it might help with the stomach issues. Best to get ahead of it before it gets nasty.
I had diarrhea only. I was a bit scared because I didn’t know it can be a bad thing. Doc’s visit was more about him asking me questions than me asking him.
Yeah, the diarrhea is no joke. Make sure to stay hydrated and consult your doctor about medication to manage it. Also, keep an eye out for any signs of CDAD, it can be serious.
Diarrhea is nasty, I had it so bad for two weeks straight. What is up with antibiotics and diarrhea? But really, it’s better to take a trip to the toilet than deal with an infection. Do you have any other questions?
Is the bedtime dose better on the stomach?
I took Cefuroxime for bronchitis and had no side effects at all. Maybe it depends on the individual? I've been lucky with antibiotics in the past. Maybe try taking the medication at night? I find it feels better on the body.
I think you just need to stick it out and finish the course. The side effects might be unpleasant, but they are worth it if it clears up your infection.
From what I understand he feels like crap now but he should be OK. But really who knows? He should check with his doc.
