Has anyone tried Balsalazide 750mg Capsules for ulcerative colitis? Here are my side effects
I was recently prescribed Balsalazide 750mg Capsules to manage my ulcerative colitis. I've been taking them for about a month now, and while they seem to be helping with the symptoms, I've experienced some side effects that I'm not sure are normal. I've read about the potential side effects, but I'm curious if anyone else has had similar experiences. I've had some stomach pain and diarrhea, which I know can be side effects, but I'm also feeling pretty fatigued. Has anyone else had these issues, or should I talk to my doctor about switching medications? Thanks for any insights!
Can you talk to your doctor about adjusting the dosage? Sometimes a lower dose can help manage the side effects while still being effective. Don't suffer through it if it's making you feel too awful.
I switched to a different medication because of similar side effects. It's worth talking to your doctor if it's too uncomfortable. Everyone's body reacts differently, so what works for one person might not for another.
I've been on Balsalazide for a few months now, and I've had similar side effects. The fatigue was pretty bad at first, but it seems to have gotten better. Also, my doctor recommended taking it with food, which helped a lot with the stomach issues. Good luck, hope it gets better!
You might want to check with your doctor about the fatigue. It could be related to the medication, but it's also important to rule out other potential issues.
I've been on this for a few months and am tolerating it well. I'm curious if how you're feeling is a gradual improvement because I had a few bad days when I started, but it settled down. You might be in the adjustment phase.
What helped me was taking probiotics. It really balanced out my gut bacteria, which seemed to be a bit out of whack while on the medication. Worth asking your doctor about.
I’m surprised you’re experiencing fatigue because I had the opposite issue. I felt more energetic when I started taking it. Maybe it’s worth keeping a symptom diary to see if there’s a pattern. Just make sure you’re getting enough rest and eating well.
