Just prescribed Clarithromycin 250mg/5ml Susp 50ml - what to expect?
I've just been prescribed Clarithromycin 250mg/5ml Susp 50ml for a respiratory infection. The doctor said it should clear up the infection quickly, but the list of side effects is a bit scary. Has anyone taken this before? What was your experience like? Should I be worried about the severe side effects mentioned?
I’m a nurse and I can tell you that while the side effects are scary, they are rare. Just keep an eye out for any unusual symptoms and you should be fine. Finish the full course as prescribed, even if you feel better sooner!
Don't worry too much, the severe side effects are rare. I took it for a skin infection and only had a bit of an upset stomach. It worked great though!

I had an allergic reaction to this medication a few years ago and ended up in the hospital. It was not fun. If you experience any of the symptoms on the label, get help right away. That said, I’ve had friends who took it with no issues.
I’ve heard it can cause some crazy skin reactions. I take antibiotics all the time for my cystic acne, but this one is a no-go for me. Hope it works for you though, Good luck!
