Deferiprone 500mg Tablets: Experiences and Side Effects Discussion
I've recently been prescribed Deferiprone 500mg Tablets to manage excess iron in my body due to multiple blood transfusions. I've read about the potential side effects, but I'm curious to hear from others who have taken this medication. What side effects did you experience, and how did you manage them? Also, how effective was Deferiprone in removing the excess iron? Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Deferiprone saved my life. I was diagnosed with hemochromatosis, and I was on the brink of organ failure. Deferiprone helped me get my iron levels down to a safe range. It was rough at first, but it was worth it.
Just started Deferiprone and my stomach is killing me. Have any of you found anything that helps with the nausea?
This medication is a nightmare. I've had every side effect in the book, and my doctor keeps saying to stick with it. I don't know how much longer I can take it.
Deferiprone is a very unique medication to take. If you're taking this, it means that your liver is potentially already damaged by iron overload. You will need to monitor your liver enzymes for any fluctuations
I just started taking Deferiprone and I'm really scared of the side effects. How long did it take for you all to see any improvements?
I've had diarrhea, fever, and back pain, but nothing I can't handle. My doctor kept telling me that the medication will lower my iron levels, but my doctor has been getting me regular tests to check on my iron levels and renal function regularly. The tests kept getting better and better; my iron levels have fallen from 4000 mcg to 3000 mcg which is definitely a good sign. I've been on this medication for almost 8 months now and have developed a slight rash. This has been a blessing in disguise. I also have a kidney issue, and my doctor has prescribed me Deferiprone to reduce the iron levels in my body.
