Anyone have experience with Omnipaque 300mg/ml Inj, 10ml (Iohexol) for CT scans? What was your experience like?
I have an upcoming CT scan and my doctor prescribed Omnipaque 300mg/ml Inj, 10ml. I've read about the possible side effects, but I'm curious to hear from others who have had this dye injected. Did you experience any side effects? How long did they last? How was the injection process? Any tips for someone going through this for the first time?

If you start feeling itchy or have trouble breathing, let the staff know right away. They can handle it, but it's important to speak up. Also, stay hydrated before and after the scan to help flush the dye out of your system faster.
I had a bad reaction to Omnipaque. I broke out in hives and had trouble breathing. I ended up in the ER. If you have a history of allergies, make sure to tell your doctor. It's scary stuff.

I had a really bad experience with Omnipaque. I developed toxic epidermal necrolysis, which was terrifying. It started with a red rash and quickly progressed to severe skin peeling. My immune system tried to attack my skin to the point where I ended up in the hospital. My advice: if you notice anything like this, get to a doctor ASAP. It's rare, but it happens. Always better to be safe. The doctor was able to get help to me in time but it was a close call.
