Just received Mozobil Inj, 1.2ml for upcoming transplant - any tips or warnings?
I've been diagnosed with a rare blood disorder and my doctor has prescribed Mozobil Inj, 1.2 ml in combination with G-CSF to mobilize my stem cells for a transplant. I've read the usual side effects but wanted to hear from people who have been through it. What was your experience like? Any surprises? I am trying to stay positive, but the idea of all the side effects is intimidating. Any advice? I'm hoping to hear from people who have actually taken it, as sometimes doctors gloss over the details. I am mostly worried about the urgent side effects since they sound pretty scary. How common are they really? Any personal experiences would be helpful.
My partner suffered from stomach pain when they took Mozobil. My dad gave me a recipe that helped a lot. I heated up ginger root and water, and had it a few times a day. Just don't drink too much of it.
Be prepared for the diarrhea. It can be pretty intense. My doctor gave me some Imodium to have on hand, which helped a lot. Also, make sure you're drinking plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. It was rough, but knowing in the end it would help me recover made it easier.
You'll probably feel really tired and weak. My doctor warned me to rest as much as possible. I felt a bit sheepish for complaining to my doctor about sleepiness, but you just have to push through.
