What is the most meaningful depiction of 'The Good' in recent movies or TV shows?
I've been thinking a lot about the concept of 'The Good' lately. What are some movies or TV shows that have done an amazing job of depicting it? Which ones stand out to you the most, and why? Let's discuss!
I never thought I'd say this, but Breaking Bad's Walter White had some deeply good moments. Some of the best depictions of good are those that are hidden in 'bad to achieve good'. I really do think that the show has some of the most layered examples of morally grey areas that end up being 'the most good' you can realistically achieve. It’s a thought provoking watch.
I have to go with 'The Good Place' in this case. It's full of ethical debates and discussions that are both funny and thought-provoking.
The film 'Schindler's List' is a classic example of 'The Good' in cinema. Oskar Schindler's selfless acts to save as many lives as possible during the Holocaust are truly inspiring.
I would argue that 'The Good' is best depicted in smaller, independent films. Movies like 'Little Miss Sunshine' show the goodness in everyday people and their relationships.
I think 'The Good' is a bit subjective. What one person sees as good, another might see as naive or misguided. Frankly I don't think most movies get it right. It's too hard to define.
One Tree Hill is a good example, surprisingly! Lucas Scott's journey throughout the series is a great depiction of perseverance and doing good despite adversity.
You guys are overcomplicating it. 'The Good' is simpler than that. It's just treating people with kindness and respect.
I am not saying 'Lawrence of Arabia' is about 'The Good' that we are talking about, but you are missing out if you haven't watched it. I can't except if you don't like epics.
I disagree with all the people who have mentioned The Good Place - it's a comedy and can't be compared to other shows and films. Just go watch The Office if you want a good laugh
