Starting Quetiapine 50mg ER Tablets for Bipolar Disorder: What to Expect?
Hello everyone, I've been recently prescribed Quetiapine 50mg ER Tablets for my bipolar disorder. I'm a bit nervous about starting a new medication and wanted to know if anyone has any advice or experiences to share. I've read about the potential side effects, but I'm curious about what the first few weeks might be like. How long did it take for the medication to start working for you? Did you experience any severe side effects, or did they pass quickly? It would be great to hear from people who have been on this medication for a while as well. Thanks in advance!
Good luck! I have to say, my first time around with this medication I gained a lot of weight. I ended up going back on this medication again a few years later, and this time I remembered to keep an eye on what I was eating. It was a lot easier to manage the weight gain the second time around. Also, I was really surprised at how much better I felt overall. It's not a band-aid, it actually treats the problem.
I'm on my second week of Quetiapine, and honestly, I feel like a zombie. I'm hoping it's just a temporary side effect. Fingers crossed!
Wow. That's nuts. Did you end up switching meds?
Be careful with this drug. I was on it for a few years. I gained a ton of weight, but that was the least of my problems. I developed some pretty severe muscle spasms. They were so bad, I had to go to the hospital. My doctor told me that it was a rare side effect.
