Sharing my experience with Cosopt (dorzolamide and timolol) eye drops for glaucoma
I've been using Cosopt Ocumeter Plus Oph Soln 10ml for a few months now to manage my glaucoma. It contains dorzolamide and timolol, which work together to lower the pressure in my eyes. I had some really bad hives and itching come up almost immediately after using the drops. I stopped using them and took myself to an urgent care center. The doctor told me that was a common allergic reaction to the drops. I'm a little worried about switching to another drug because I'm worried about having the same reaction. I have a feeling that I will just have to tough it out. I think I have to stick with it if I want to keep my glaucoma under control. Does anyone have any experience with allergic reactions like this?

This thread is a lifesaver. I am so glad I found it. I was freaking out about the side effects. Some of the more severe ones are causing me anxiety. I am so glad I am not the only one experiencing eye irritation. I am also experiencing muscle weakness and dizziness recently. They did not go away. I did not see this listed in the potential side effects but it is definitely a cause for concern for me. I am going to talk to my doctor about this immediately. This stuff is scary.
I noticed excessive tearing when I started using Cosopt. It was annoying, but I got used to it. My doctor told me that it's a common side effect and should go away with time. Also, make sure to wash your hands before and after using the drops to avoid any infections.
Be cautious of the rare but serious side effects. If you experience any of those, get medical help immediately.
I’m really glad you posted this. I've been on Cosopt for a while and have been experiencing some strange symptoms I didn't know could be related. I also experienced some strange, occasional, temporary vision loss though it was only for a second. It took me by surprise. I'm very worried about these side effects. I've been reading the leaflet but it's a bit overwhelming. Anybody have any experience with the possible heart failure side effects? I've been really nervous about this. I'm going to call my doctor right away if I have any doubts.
