Potassium Chloride ER 8meq Tablets: My Experience and Questions About Side Effects
I've recently been prescribed Potassium Chloride ER 8meq Tablets to help with my electrolyte balance. I'm aware that this medication can cause some serious side effects, so I'm a bit concerned. Has anyone here had any issues with high potassium levels (hyperkalemia) while taking this medication? I've read that it can cause symptoms like abnormal heartbeat, confusion, and weakness. I'm also curious about the other possible side effects like stomach pain or diarrhea. Are these common? How long did they last for others? I'd appreciate any advice or personal experiences you can share. Especially, how did you manage them? I'm hoping to get a better understanding of what to expect so I can prepare accordingly. Additionally, I'd be interested to hear if anyone has experienced any of the serious side effects and what they did about it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Seriously, if you experience any severe symptoms, do not wait. Go to the hospital. I had a friend who thought they could tough it out and ended up with serious heart issues. It's not worth the risk. Your health is too important!
If you're experiencing any of the serious side effects, don't mess around. Get to a doctor right away. Better safe than sorry, especially with something like high potassium levels which can be really dangerous. I know someone who ended up in the hospital because they ignored the symptoms.
I've had the wax matrix thing in my stool and it freaked me out at first but my doctor said that's normal. It's just the wax from the tablet. So don't worry about that.
I wish they would make these tablets taste better. They're awful going down. But I haven't had any serious side effects so far, just a bit of gas.
