Pantoprazole Sod 40mg Inj: My Experience and What You Need to Know
I was recently prescribed Pantoprazole Sod 40mg Inj for severe heartburn and was curious about others’ experiences. I found it interesting that this drug reduces stomach acid by blocking the tiny pumps that produce it. I was also surprised by the long list of potential side effects. I didn’t experience any of the urgent ones, but I did have some dizziness and stomach pain. Has anyone else had similar experiences? I'm especially curious about the long-term effects, like low vitamin B-12 levels. Anyone on this med for over 3 years? I’d love to hear your thoughts and tips on managing side effects!
Side effects are no joke. I had some severe diarrhea and it was crazy. So be careful and monitor.
I’ve had some magnesium deficiency problems. Seems to affect electrolytes, which is something to keep an eye on. I've been supplementing and it helps some. Might want to talk to your doc about electrolyte drinks too. I have to monitor my urine output regularly.
I've been taking this for about 5 years and have felt fine but I do worry about vitamin B-12 issues. If you are on it long-term it's good to get your levels checked. It is rare but it's something to be on the lookout for. I take a supplement just in case.
I've read that pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor. It basically shuts off the acid pump in your stomach which is pretty cool. I imagine it’s a game-changer but you need to monitor the side effects.

Same! I was on this for a few months and had some joint pain. Doc switched me to something else and it went away. Do any of you use the oral form instead?
I've been on it for over a year with no issues. The injection was scary at first, but it's manageable. I noticed my stomach acid has reduced significantly and the ulcers are gone. The only side effect I experienced was a mild headache but it was worth it.
