My experience with Pylera 10 Day Therapy Pak for H. pylori - any long-term side effects?
I was recently prescribed Pylera along with omeprazole to treat an H. pylori infection. I finished the 10-day course and so far, so good - no ulcers! But I'm wondering if anyone has experienced long-term side effects? The list of potential side effects is pretty scary, and I'm hoping some of these are rare. For context, I had some mild stomach discomfort and a dark tongue, but nothing major. Anyone have any insights or similar experiences? Thanks in advance!
I had a weird rash and swelling in my mouth and throat. Turns out I was having an allergic reaction. I had to stop taking it immediately and switch to a different medication. Scary stuff, but better safe than sorry.
My sister had to take Pylera a few years ago. She had some weird side effects like confusion and visual disturbances. She had to stop taking it and switch to a different medication.
I had a similar experience with Pylera. The dark tongue and stool were freaky at first, but my doctor assured me it was normal. I didn't have any long-term side effects, but I did have a bit of a headache and some irritability during the treatment. Hang in there!
I had some nerve issues like burning sensations and dizziness. It was awful, but it went away after I stopped the medication. I was really worried, so I called my doctor and he said it was probably due to the metronidazole. Maybe see if yours can suggest anything to mitigate side effects if you start getting nervous.
I had the same, dizziness and some ringing in my ears, but I think it was more of the arrhythmia than the H. pylori. Did you try to get checked for that? It's better to be safe.
Drink lots of yogurt and take probiotics. The antibiotics in Pylera can really mess with your gut flora, and that's how I ended up with a stomach infection.
Pylera saved my life, but I had a lot of urinary issues after my treatment. Had to get tested and taken on an antibiotic to get it cleaned out to get it out
