My doctor prescribed me Bismuth/metr/tetracy 140/125/125mg for H. pylori. What should I expect?
I've just been prescribed Bismuth/metr/tetracy 140/125/125mg to treat an H. pylori infection that's causing stomach ulcers. I'm a bit nervous about the side effects, especially the serious ones. Has anyone else taken this combination of medications? What was your experience like? Did you face any of the more severe side effects mentioned, such as changes in hearing or nervous system problems? What can I do to minimize the risk of these issues?
This medication is basically the only sure bet to get rid of H. pylori. I've had friends who tried natural remedies and it took a lot longer. One friend who did the natural route said they tried probiotics and they really helped with the side effects of the medication. It'll be rough, but you have to stick it out and just make sure you are taking it correctly. Hang in there.
I took this for my H. pylori infection. It was rough, but it worked. I had to take it four times a day, which was a pain, but I didn't experience any serious side effects. Just a bit of stomach upset and dark tongue, which I know is normal. This was my experience
Did you know that tetracycline can make you really sensitive to the sun? Make sure you slather on the sunscreen if you're going outside.
Dont forget to avoid dairy while taking tetracycline. It can interfere with the absorption of the drug.
