Ketoconazole 2% Foam 50gm: My Experience and Side Effects - Is it worth it for Seborrheic Dermatitis?
I recently started using Ketoconazole 2% Foam 50gm for seborrheic dermatitis. It's been a few weeks, and I've had mixed feelings about it. On one hand, it has helped reduce the redness and itching. On the other hand, I've experienced some burning sensations and irritation on my scalp. Has anyone else had similar issues? I'm curious about others' experiences and whether these side effects are common. I also want to know if there are any tips for managing them effectively. I've read the possible side effects, but I wonder if there are any long-term effects or anything else I should be aware of. I've called my doctor and we discussed the side effects, but I'd love to hear from others who've used this treatment.
I've had a great experience with Ketoconazole foam. It cleared up my seborrheic dermatitis in about a month. I did experience some initial irritation, but it went away after a few days. Make sure to apply it to clean, dry skin and avoid getting it in your eyes. It's worth sticking with it if you're seeing improvements.
Burning sensations are common at first. I would recommend only applying to the affected areas and then going on a different shampoo for a few washes.
I've been using it for a couple of months now, and while it works, the burning sensation is pretty intense. I've talked to my doctor, and they suggested applying a thin layer and rinsing it off after 5 minutes instead of the usual 10. It's helped a bit, but I'm still hoping the burning goes away completely. Stupid to experience side effects but it's the only one that has worked for me.
I switched to the shampoo version instead of the foam and it works better for me. No irritations since then but I hope it doesn't come back.
Just be patient with the burning sensation. It's weird how it disappears after a while. The burning faded after about 2 weeks.

I am on my third bottle now. It seems like it took a few treatments to really see the benefits but I have seen a decrease in the redness and the itching has definitely gone down. I just make sure to use a soft, dry brush to gently stimulate the skin to help the foam work its magic.
