Just started using Phenylephrine 2.5% eye drops - anyone else have experience with them?
I've just started using Phenylephrine 2.5% Ophthalmic Solution for an upcoming eye exam. It's meant to dilate my pupils so the doctor can get a better look at my eyes. I was a bit nervous about the potential side effects, especially the more serious ones like allergic reactions or high blood pressure. Has anyone else used this and have any advice or experiences to share? I'd also like to know if anyone has had prolonged side effects like blurred vision or sensitivity to light. Any tips on dealing with those would be great! I plan to follow the instructions and call my doctor if any of the urgent side effects show up. I found my experience with these drops to be very straightforward. The only side effect I had was some mild irritation. My doctor warned me about the urgency of some of the other effects, especially the immediate medical attention issues. So I didn't freak out when it wasn't bad
Be careful if you have a history of heart issues. Phenylephrine can raise your blood pressure, so it's worth talking to your doctor beforehand to make sure you're safe to use it. I had to skip the drops at my last exam because of this.
