Just started taking Vancomycin 250mg Capsules for C. diff. Scared of the side effects. Has anyone else taken this?
I've been prescribed Vancomycin 250mg Capsules to treat a nasty case of C. diff diarrhea. I'm a bit worried about the potential side effects, especially the severe ones. I've read about kidney problems, hearing loss, and even Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Has anyone else taken this medication? I'd love to hear about your experiences, both good and bad. How many days did you take it, and how did you feel throughout the treatment? Did you experience any of the serious side effects, or was it mostly minor issues like stomach pain and diarrhea? Any tips on managing the side effects or making the treatment process smoother would be greatly appreciated!
I had to take this a few years ago. The worst part was just feeling tired all the time, and I had headaches for a few days. I was scared about the hearing loss, but thankfully didn’t experience it. Be patient and hopefully you feel better soon!
I took Vancomycin for about 10 days. It was rough, but I didn't experience any of the really scary side effects. Stick it out and make sure to stay hydrated!
Vancomycin saved my life during a severe C. diff infection, but it wasn't fun. I had some stomach issues but nothing too bad. Good luck! Try some probiotics afterwards to help get back on track.
Just take it and endure. The vanilla ice cream didn't hurt. It will work. If you get a rash, don’t be like my uncle—go straight to the ER.
It's only 10 days, you got this! Just remember to drink lots of water and avoid dairy.
This really is a harsh drug. It’s worth it to deal with C. diff, but don’t expect a walk in the park. Be sure to report any changes or rashes to your doctor pronto.
My doctor said this is the gold standard for C. diff, so hang in there. Also, take the capsules on an empty stomach for best results.
