Just started taking Quinapril 5mg Tablets for high blood pressure – what to expect? Any advice or warnings?
I've just been prescribed Quinapril 5mg Tablets to help manage my high blood pressure. I've read about the potential side effects, such as dizziness, cough and more serious ones like signs of an allergic reaction and kidney problems. Has anyone else taken this medication? What was your experience like? Any tips or warnings you'd like to share? I'm really hoping to manage this effectively and understand what to look out for.
Be careful with this one. I had a friend who had a severe allergic reaction after just a couple of doses. If you notice any signs like rash, swelling, or trouble breathing, go straight to the ER.
I got really dizzy when I first started taking it. My doctor told me to get up slowly from sitting or lying down and it helped a lot. Also, I get my blood pressure checked every month.
I switched to Quinapril from another ACE inhibitor and it made a big difference. My blood pressure has been much more stable.
High potassium levels can be a real issue. Make sure to watch your diet and avoid high-potassium foods. If you feel any of the symptoms (like weakness and confusion), get checked out ASAP.
Persistent cough is a real side effect. I had it for a while but luckily, it went away, but it was one of the hardest things to deal with.
