Just started Periactin 4mg, anyone have any tips or warnings?
I was prescribed Periactin for allergies, but after reading the side effects, I am a bit hesitant. It's great for congestion and sneezing, but now I am worried about the drowsiness, and some of the other possible effects that seem really scary. Has anyone else had a similar experience? How did you deal with the side effects? Any advice?
You have to watch out for the allergic reactions. If you start to get hives or something, get to a doctor ASAP.
The liver problems are the scariest part to me. I would keep an eye out for any signs of that and talk to your doctor if you notice anything.
Has anyone else had a problem with weight gain? I've noticed a few pounds creeping on since I started this.
Be careful with the drowsiness. I had to switch to a different antihistamine because it was affecting my work performance.
I've been on this for a while and it's been fine. I didn't get any of the serious side effects, just a bit of drowsiness.
I've had some weird side effects like hallucinations, but that could have been something else. I would talk to your doctor if you see anything unusual.
I think the drowsiness is overstated. I take it during the day and it doesn't affect me at all. YMMV though.
