Just started Glucophage XR 500mg tablets. How long before I see results?
Hi all, I was recently prescribed Glucophage XR 500mg tablets for my type 2 diabetes. I've heard it can take a while to see the effects, but I'm not sure how long or if I should be worried about side effects. How long did it take for you to see results, and did you notice any weird side effects? Any tips on managing side effects? Thanks in advance for your help!
I've been on it for a year and I wish I had known how huge of a difference it would make.
It took me about 2 weeks to notice a difference in my blood sugar levels. As for side effects, I had some stomach issues at first, but they went away after a few days. Hang in there!
I started feeling better and saw changes in my readings for 5 weeks. Make sure you take it with food to avoid an upset stomach.
Pro tip: drink lots of water to avoid stomach pain. I also saw blood in my stool on it. They said there was no problem, but it still made me nervous.
I had to go up in mg after the first few months to get my A1C down. Don't be surprised if the doctor wants to up your dose.
Be prepared for some diarrhea and stomach pain. My doctor told me to take it with a full meal to avoid that, and it helped a great deal.
I started taking Glucophage XR about a month ago and I've noticed some weird side effects like feeling tired all the time. Is this normal?
