Just prescribed Clarithromycin 125mg/5ml Susp 50ml for my kid—anything I should know?
Hello everyone, I just picked up a prescription for Clarithromycin 125mg/5ml Susp 50ml for my 5-year-old who has been diagnosed with strep throat. The pharmacist gave me a pamphlet with some side effects, but I’m a bit worried about the severe ones mentioned. Has anyone else given this to their kids? What was your experience? Also, any tips on how to get my kid to take the medicine without a fuss? Thanks!
My sister is a nurse and she said this one is generally safe but to watch out for the liver stuff. Maybe ask your doctor about that.
My kid hated the taste but we mixed it with a bit of juice and it went down easier. Just be cautious with citrus juices as they can interact with some meds.
I never heard about the severe side effects so I hope you don't experience any! My experience was pretty positive.
I had a friend experience diarrhea when they used the antibiotic so just keep an eye out for that. It can get nasty.
I had some bad side effects with this med. My throat got so sore. I would rather water it down.
