Just had a procedure with Xylocaine-Mpf/epinephrine Inj, 10ml. What are some side effects to watch out for? I was told it may numb a specific area, but I want to be sure I'm prepared for the worst.
I recently had a minor surgery done with the stuff called Xylocaine-Mpf/epinephrine Inj, 10ml. It did a great job numbing the area, but I'm worried about some of the more severe side effects. The doc warned me about things like allergic reactions and methemoglobinemia, but I want to be sure I know what to look out for. Has anybody else had issues with this stuff or know someone who has? Let me know what I should be keeping an eye on.
I'm an anesthesiologist and I can tell you that while these side effects are rare, you should definitely be aware of them. If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, like hives or trouble breathing, seek immediate medical attention. Same goes for symptoms of methemoglobinemia, like blue discoloration of the skin. These can be serious.
