Just got the Skyla IUD: What to expect and what not?
I just got the Skyla IUD inserted today and I'm curious about what others have experienced. How long did it take for your body to adjust? Did you have any unusual side effects? I've heard that spotting can be common, but what about other issues? Also, how long did it take for your periods to become lighter? Any tips on managing the cramping and spotting would be greatly appreciated!
I had the Skyla IUD for about a year and a half. The insertion was quite painful, but the cramping and spotting subsided after a few months. My periods became lighter and shorter, which was a huge plus for me. Just be prepared for some irregular spotting in the first few months.
Not to scare you or anything, but I ended up with a UTI after getting the Skyla. The doctor said it might have been from the insertion, but either way, it was a nasty experience.
