Just gave my child the Ticovac 0.25ml Im vaccine - any other parents experience side effects?
Hey everyone, I just gave my child the Ticovac 0.25ml Im vaccine as we live in an area with high risk of Tick-Borne Encephalitis. The vaccine was administered by my pediatrician, who assured me that it's routine in Europe and Asia. However, I'm still a bit worried because I've read about the possible side effects - especially the serious ones. I'm hoping to hear from other parents who have given their children this vaccine. How did your kids react? Did you experience any of the side effects and if so, how did you manage them? I'm particularly anxious about the more severe side effects, although the doctor said the are rare. I'd love to hear from anyone who has any experience or advice.
You should definitely talk to your doctor about that. I believe the vaccine is approved for use in the US but it's not routinely given like in Europe. If you're in a high risk area, it might be worth considering. Just make sure to discuss it thoroughly with a medical professional.
I'm in the U.S. and we don't really hear about this vaccine. Is it something we should be considering over here? I live near some wooded areas and ticks are definitely a problem.
Has anyone reported any side effects to the FDA? I might do that if my kid has any issues.
I had no idea this vaccine existed. I've been so focused on the typical childhood vaccines that I never even thought about this. I'm going to bring it up with my pediatrician next time we go in. Thanks for sharing!
My son had a bit of muscle pain and a headache. He was pretty cranky for a day but he was fine after that. I've heard that giving them plenty of fluids and keeping them hydrated can help with some of the side effects. Hopefully your kiddo doesn't have any issues. Keep us posted!
This is a bit off topic but does anyone know if pets can get Tick-Borne Encephalitis? I'm asking because I have a dog and we go hiking a lot. I'm not sure if I should be worried about him contracting it or not.
