I just started Bexarotene 1% Gel for CTCL: What to expect? Helpful tips and experiences welcome!
I was recently diagnosed with cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) and my doctor prescribed Bexarotene 1% Gel. I'm on my second week of treatment and I'm eager to hear from anyone who has also used this medication. What side effects did you experience? Any tips on how to manage them? How long did it take for you to see improvements in your condition? I'm really trying to stay positive, but I'm also realistic about the potential challenges ahead. Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, everyone!
I really hope this works for you. It's a tough journey. Just take it one day at a time. You got this.
I had a really bad reaction to this stuff. My skin got so swollen I could barely open my eyes. I had to stop using it. If you notice anything like that, get to a doctor immediately.
Hang in there! It's a tough road, but Bexarotene can really help. I noticed improvements after about 6 weeks. Just keep up with your doctor's visits and be open about any side effects you're experiencing.
I used Bexarotene for a few months. The first couple of weeks were tough with a lot of itching and redness, but it got better. I found that using a gentle moisturizer helped a lot. Stick with it, it can make a difference.
I was surprised by how well it worked for me. I had tried other treatments without much luck, but Bexarotene really helped control the growth of the abnormal cells. I did experience some side effects, but they were manageable.
Seriously, though, if you start feeling weird or get a fever, don't mess around. Go to the ER. Better safe than sorry with this stuff.
Be prepared for some serious dryness. I had to use lip balm constantly and drink lots of water. But yeah, the side effects do ease up after a while.
Good luck with the treatment! Remember, everyone's experience is different, so don't be too discouraged if it takes a while to see results. Keep communicating with your doctor and take care of yourself.
I wish I had known about the excessive sweating side effect before I started. It was really unpleasant. Make sure to talk to your doctor about managing side effects before you start.
Has anyone else noticed changes in their skin sensitivity? I found that even gentle fabrics were irritating my skin. I ended up switching to all-cotton clothing and it made a big difference.
