How Effective Are Ergotamine Tartrate/Caffeine Tabs for Migraines? Share Your Experiences!
I've been prescribed Ergotamine Tartrate/Caffeine Tabs for my migraine attacks. The doctor said it should help narrow the blood vessels in my brain and relieve the pain. I've heard it can cause some serious side effects, though, like allergic reactions and high blood pressure. Has anyone else taken this medication? How effective has it been for you? Also, what kinds of side effects have you experienced and how did you manage them?
I had a really bad reaction to this medication. I got these weird reddish sores on my fingers, and my feet turned a blueish color. It was terrifying. I had to stop taking it and switch to something else. I had to go to the ER for my last attack, hopefully, my doctor can find a safer alternative.
I took this one time and felt like I was having a heart attack. I had this chest pain and my heart was racing. Went to the ER and they said it was a side effect. Never touching this again.
This stuff works great for me, but the caffeine makes me incredibly jittery. I've had to cut back on my morning coffee to avoid feeling on edge all day.
My doctor told me I can't take this if I'm pregnant or trying to conceive. I wish there were more options for people in my situation.
