Help! Fluocinonide 0.05% Ointment: Worth the Risk for Severe Eczema?
I've been prescribed Fluocinonide 0.05% Ointment for severe eczema, but the side effects list is terrifying. Has anyone used this and found it to be effective? I've been battling with eczema for years, and I'm at my wits' end. Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated I want to get better, but I'm not sure if it's worth the risk of long-term side effects. Also, the ointment itself smells really bad, even though the pharmacist said it’s normal. Is there any way to reduce the smell?
I’m a nurse, and I can tell you that these side effects are rare. But if you experience any of them, go to the hospital immediately.
I tried it for a while, but the side effects were too much for me to handle. I ended up switching to a different cream. Definitely talk to your doctor about other options.
I personally think it's too risky. There are plenty of other treatments that might work just as well without the major side effects.
Yeah, the smell is awful, but the relief is worth it. I just hold my nose and slap it on.
I have found that applying a small amount of petroleum jelly on top can help with the smell.
