Has anyone tried Prometh/PE 6.25-5mg/5ml Oral Soln for allergy relief? What's been your experience?
I've been struggling with allergy symptoms lately, and my doctor prescribed Prometh/PE 6.25-5mg/5ml Oral Soln. I'm curious to hear from others who have used this medication. How effective has it been for you? Have you experienced any side effects? Specifically, I'm a bit worried about the drowsiness and the potential for more severe side effects. I had a really bad reaction to this stuff. I broke out in hives and had trouble breathing. Went to the ER and they said it was an allergic reaction. Never touching that again.
I've used this for a few years now. It works great for my allergies, but yeah, the drowsiness can be a problem. I usually take it at night so I can sleep through it.

I think the phenylephrine helps clear my nose, but the promethazine makes me way too sleepy. I tried taking it during the day and it was a disaster. I've switched to a different antihistamine that doesn't make me so drowsy.

If you're worried about the drowsiness, maybe try taking a smaller dose or splitting it. Everyone's body reacts differently to meds, so it might be worth a shot.
