Has anyone given their child Synagis (100mg/ml Injection) this year for RSV protection? How was the experience?
I have a 6-month-old who is at high risk for RSV due to prematurity. Pediatrician suggested Synagis but I am jittery about potential side effects. Before I go to the clinic, I'd love to hear from parents who have given their child Synagis. Did you notice any side effects? How did your baby respond to the injections? I've read that some babies might have fever, but how long does this typically last? And did it affect their appetite or sleep patterns? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
We gave our preemie Synagis last year and had no issues at all. No fever or other side effects. I think it's really important to protect these little ones during RSV season
I'm curious, how much does Synagis cost? Is it covered by insurance or are there any financial assistance programs available? We're trying to budget for this.

I work in a neonatal intensive care unit and we administer Synagis regularly. The key is to monitor for signs of a reaction right after the shot. If you see swelling, hives, or difficulty breathing, contact medical help immediately. For minor fever, doctors usually recommend acetaminophen. Best to discuss any concerns with your child's physician beforehand. In my experience these side effects are rare and the alternative is far worse.
My twins got their first dose last week. They both had a little redness at the injection site but nothing major. Keep in mind, every child responds differently, but we're glad to have them protected!
