Has anyone else had trouble with Phenytoin 125mg/5ml Oral Suspension side effects?
I've been on Phenytoin 125mg/5ml Oral Suspension for about two months now to control my seizures, and I've been experiencing some side effects that are really bothering me. I've had dizziness, trouble sleeping, and what I think might be numbness in my fingers. I'm not sure if these are normal or if I should be concerned. Anyone else deal with these issues or have any advice?
If you notice any kind of rash or fever then you need to go to the emergency room asap. I'm pretty sure that is a life threatening allergy situation.
I switched to a different medication because the side effects were so bad but everyone is different. Your doctor should be able to help you figure it out though.
I've been on Phenytoin for years and unfortunately I think the side effects are to be expected. I get changes in my coordination. Doc says its because its changing electrical signals in my brain. But good luck to you!
I think the dizziness and numbness could be serious though, so definitely call your doctor soon. I think the dizziness could be a sign of something more serious.
You should definitely bring this up with your neurologist. They can help you figure out if it's the Phenytoin or something else.
I had the same issues when I started taking it. Talk to your doctor about adjusting the dose, it might help.
I feel like I'm the only person on here who hasn't had any side effects. Maybe I'm just lucky.
I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. Have you tried any alternative medications or other therapies? I think there is some evidence that CBD oil helps with seizures, but I'm not sure.
I've had Phenytoin, but I had the 100mg/5ml version. It gave me some crazy dreams though, never had any numbness though,
I've heard so many people complain about Phenytoin, you may want to look into alternative treatments.
