Experiences with Zoledronic Acid (Zoledronic 5mg/100ml Inj, 100ml) IV Infusion for Osteoporosis
Has anyone here had experience with Zoledronic Acid (Zoledronic 5mg/100ml Inj, 100ml) IV infusion for osteoporosis? I've been prescribed this medication and I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects. The infusion is given once a year, but I've heard mixed reviews. Can anyone share their experiences, both positive and negative? Any tips for managing side effects would be greatly appreciated!
I've been on Zoledronic Acid for a few years now, and it's been a game-changer for my bone health. The infusion itself is quick and easy, but the flu-like symptoms the next day can be rough. Drinking plenty of fluids and taking Tylenol or ibuprofen helped me a lot. Definitely talk to your doctor if you experience any severe side effects.
Make sure to stay hydrated before and after the infusion. I've had two infusions so far and had no major issues. A bit of a headache and some fatigue, but nothing I couldn't handle. My doctor also asked me to avoid any NSAIDs for a few days before and after the infusion to reduce the risk of kidney issues.
I had a really bad experience with Zoledronic Acid. I ended up with severe muscle and joint pain that lasted for weeks. My doctor had to switch me to a different bisphosphonate. If you experience any severe or persistent symptoms, insist on getting a different medication.
I know someone who had a severe allergic reaction. Not everyone is the same, but please be very careful. I had a small rash and some itching, but nothing major. I'm just glad they did the infusion in the hospital.
I had to have my infusion adjusted because I have kidney issues, but so far, so good. I've had a few mild flu-like symptoms, but nothing I couldn't handle with rest and hydration. Just make sure to stay hydrated and take it easy the day after the infusion.
I had a terrible reaction the first time I got the infusion. I ended up in the ER with severe flu-like symptoms and a headache. My doctor switched me to a different medication, and I'm doing much better now. If you have any history of severe allergies or kidney issues, be extra cautious.
I had no side effects at all, knock on wood!
