Does anyone have experience with Eloctate 750unit Inj, 1 Vial for hemophilia A? Pros and cons?
I've been recently diagnosed with haemophilia A and my doctor prescribed me Eloctate 750unit Inj. Has anyone else used this or something similar? What's your experience with the side effects and the 'Fc fusion protein' part that helps it stay in the body for longer? How often do you need to inject yourself? I'm still wrapping my head around it all. Thanks!
Eloctate saved my life. Literally. I had a bad bleed once, and it was able to stabilize me really fast. I wish I’d had it sooner, to be honest.

When I first started, my doctor monitored my Factor VIII levels closely. Now I feel like I'm finally in control of my condition. I was terrified of bleeds at first, but Eloctate has made it so much better.
I felt tired and weak for the first few weeks, but it was manageable. Just make sure to stay hydrated and get plenty of rest. The irritation at the injection site is also annoying but not too bad.
This stuff is a bit pricey, though. Insurance covers most of it, but it still adds up. Be prepared for that part.
I had a bad reaction to my first injection. I got a rash and had trouble breathing. I ended up in the ER, but it was just a one-off. They gave me something to counteract the reaction and I haven't had a problem since. Fingers crossed you don’t get any reactions.
I wish they made a version that doesn't sting so much at the injection site. It’s like a little bee sting every time.
