Anyone have experience with Avycaz 2-0.5gm Inj, 1 Vial for treating severe infections?
I was recently prescribed Avycaz for a severe abdominal infection and am curious about others' experiences. Avycaz is an antibiotic given by injection used to treat serious bacterial infections, especially those resistant to other antibiotics. I've read about some serious side effects, like allergic reactions, seizures, and severe diarrhea. Has anyone else had to deal with these? How did you manage them? Additionally, I've heard that it can cause some milder side effects as well, like upset stomach and vomiting. Looking forward to hearing from others who have used this medication.
I had a really bad reaction to this. I started getting blisters and my throat got tight. It happened within 5 minutes. I had to rush to the ER, hardly could breathe. I thought I was done for, still freak out thinking about it.
I think it's important to mention that if you experience severe diarrhea, it could be a sign of C. diff. Make sure to talk to your doctor if that happens.
I've had to use Avycaz before for a severe UTI, and it did the job. However, I did experience some of the less severe side effects like diarrhea and upset stomach. It was manageable with some OTC meds.
It's crazy that this drug can cause seizures. I had no idea. I'm glad I read this before my next dose. I had no clue how serious the side effects could be.
