Accutane 10mg Capsules: My Experiences and Side Effects
Accutane (isotretinoin) has been a godsend for my severe acne, but the side effects are intense. I've been on 10mg capsules for about a month now, and while my skin is starting to clear up, I'm dealing with extremely dry skin, chapped lips, and joint pain. I've also heard about some pretty serious side effects, like liver problems and mood changes. Has anyone else experienced these, or know if they're common? And how long should I expect these side effects to last?
Seriously though, if you notice any signs of liver problems or mood changes, get to a doctor ASAP. I think the risk of severe side effects is worth it only if you've exhausted all other treatment options.
Mine did the same thing - super dry. My doctor told me to use Vaseline for my lips and CeraVe moisturizer for the rest of my skin. It helped a lot. For the joint pain, I got a prescription for some really nice ibuprofen. Not sure if that's a thing but it helped me.
Be really careful, on occasion I've seen people say Accutane made their depression worse. I had a friend who had to stop taking it because of mood changes.
I didn't have any of the serious side effects, but my skin and lips were super dry. I had to get special shampoo and moisturizer. My lips cracked so bad I had to wear gloves to bed.
I didn't know about the birth defect risk. I've been on Accutane before and I didn't know this was even a thing.
